Be one of the first 10 people to sign up for Joe Burgett, Platte Canyon Fire Protection District Fire Chief, to meet you at your property and provide you with personalized Firewise mitigation suggestions. On Sunday, April 23rd, we will all meet Joe at 10 AM in the ECHPOA Building, at 86 Elk Creek Drive, Bailey, CO 80421. Joe will present a quick overview of what it takes to reduce the risk of wildfires spreading while providing a safer place to live. With a map of our community and the addresses of the 10 property owners Joe will then begin his visit route and owners will have an estimated time that they can expect to meet him. Joe will spend approximately 15-30 minutes per property. Depending on how many people want to sign up for their free Firewise Property Mitigation Assessment, additional visit dates may be scheduled and announced later. Current ECHPOA members will have priority.
Firewise Community Work Day – May 13th
If you are interested in becoming involved, able to volunteer, or need volunteer help, please contact our ECHPOA Firewise Committee listed below. On Saturday, May 13th, we will all meet at 9 AM in the ECHPOA Building, and develop a plan of action to help our neighbors by participating in a Firewise Community Work Day. Bring gloves and tools such as saws, rakes, shovels, and weed wackers. We will break for lunch at noon, BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch), there is a refrigerator, microwave, and oven in the ECHPOA Building. Depending on the weather, we will either eat lunch at the pond or in the ECHPOA Building. Depending on how much help we have and how much work is needed, additional work days may be scheduled and announced later. Current ECHPOA members will have priority.
Firewise Reflective Address signs – May 15th
These signs are 6″ x 18″, green with white reflective numbers, and recommended by the Fire Protection District. ddress numbers are on both sides of the sign so that emergency vehicles can view them from either direction in thick smoke or darkness of night. These signs are made to be posted vertically, however if requested, they can be made to be hung horizontally. These signs have holes in each of the 4 corners for screws or nails. Posts are not provided and can be of any material you prefer. Address signs must be posted between 4 and 8 feet from ground level for optimal headlight reflection and snow plowing clearance. If you would like your address numbers to be included with our next ECHPOA order, please respond by May 15th, include your name, address numbers, how many signs you need, and if you want them vertical or horizontal. Then make out a check payable to ECHPOA for the total amount of $10 for each sign, and mail it to 86 Elk Creek Drive, Bailey, CO 80421. You may also place it into the locked box on the outside of the ECHPOA Building at this same address, or bring it to our next monthly association meeting on May 3rd, at 7 p.m. We will let you know when the signs are delivered and make arrangements so that you may pick them up at the ECHPOA Building.
