Action Required to Reschedule an April 15 Tax Payment

From the IRS: If you filed a 2019 #IRS income tax return and scheduled a payment for April 15, the payment will NOT be automatically rescheduled to July 15, 2020. Learn how to reschedule your payment with Q&As on filing and payment deadlines: #COVID19.

From the Colorado Department of Revenue: The Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) extension of the Income Tax payment deadline to July 15, 2020 permits taxpayers to pay any income taxes owed by July 15, 2020, without penalties or interest. The extension does not automatically change income tax payments already scheduled to happen on or before April 15, 2020. Coloradans wishing to cancel their currently scheduled direct debit payments to take advantage of the deadline extension can do so by emailing For expedited processing, taxpayers should put “Request Cancellation of Direct Debit Payment” in the subject line of the email.

Once a payment is cancelled, it cannot be rescheduled through filing software. The taxpayer must pay by the extended due date using another method to avoid penalty and interest. All payment cancellation requests must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM, April 9, 2020. Once a payment has been processed, the Department is unable to refund or return the payment. From Medicare

Scammers may use COVID-19 as an opportunity to steal your identity and commit Medicare fraud. In some cases, they might tell you they’ll send you a Coronavirus test, masks, or other items in exchange for your Medicare number or personal information. Be wary of unsolicited requests for your Medicare number or other personal information.

It’s important to always guard your Medicare card like a credit card and check your Medicare claims summary forms for errors. Only give your Medicare number to participating Medicare pharmacists, primary and specialty care doctors or people you trust to work with Medicare on your behalf. Remember, Medicare will never call you to ask for or check your Medicare number.

Reception cancelled

Out of an overabundance of caution, the River Canyon Gallery will cancel the reception for the New Gallery Artists/St. Patrick’s Day celebration scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 3 – 6 PM.  Gallery management feels this is the responsible and prudent course of action.  The gallery will remain open to our patrons.
