ECHPOA MEETING MINUTES FOR June 1, 2016
President Bryan Murphy called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. The normal agenda was tabled because of guest speakers about starting a Firewise Community Program.
Jeff DeBerry introduced Cpl. Nick Hanning who now patrols Bailey. Cpl. Hanning briefly talked about some common issues of the neighborhood.
-ATV’s are not allowed on county roads
-shooting is allowed on private property
-use 911 for emergency only
-call dispatch at 719-836-4121 option 5 for all other questions or concerns
Our HOA should file complaints about abandoned homes and trash. He stressed never hesitate to call.
Bryan then introduced John Van Doren from KZ Ranch, Kathy Lower from Woodside in Pine Junction, and Joe Burgett Assistant Chief of Platte Canyon Fire Dept. KZ Ranch, Deer Creek Ranchos and Woodside are already Firewise. They discussed how to become a Firewise Community and gave many interesting and helpful tips. Joe reminded us “it’s not if there is a fire, it’s when there is a fire” County Road 43 & 47 is the evacuation route for all of us back here. Bryan will start a campaign with up to 10 properties to become Firewise. Joe will come out and evaluate the properties with an action plan. Then those property owners will help each other carry out the plans. Work hours need to be logged. We can check out information on firewise.org
There was a question and answer period. Thanks to our guests.
A shortened regular meeting was then held. There were no corrections or additions to the minutes from the May meeting. Tim Bradley made a motion to accept the minutes, Jeff seconded. The motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report was given by Karen Ellis. Membership is 64 members, 53 with fishing. Motion to accept the report was made by Paul Ellis, seconded by Walt Wark. The motion carried.
